Suppliers that remanufacture vehicle parts and components cut down on energy use, waste disposal and capital and labor inputs.  Through remanufacturing, products that ar worn, imperfect or discarded are brought to a manufacturing environment where they are cleaned and checked. Reusable product parts are brought up to factory or performance specifications.  Parts that cannot be reused are replaced.

Remanufacturing preserves the value of the original manufacturing-including energy costs and waste disposal-which recycling alone cannot do. Remanufacturing also provides a number of benefits to the economic and environmental well-being of this country, including job creation and extension of the useful life of consumer products.
